Words. [Jun. 23rd, 2009|11:55 am]
Memage given by the 'Laird of the Mousehole pyat

Peterborough - A place i called home for seven years after being rusticated from college. I had a number of friends at both Trent and Fleming and enrolled into Fleming after my dislike of the amount of math in my computer studies. A lot of gaming happened there, as well as being sucked into Larping.

Morgandria - is of course the name my wife goes by on the internet.

LARP - Live action role-play. I'd just moved into peterborough when my friend Bing invited me out to try out this Vampire game, and it involved, actually acting out what your character did, within reason..... a full 11 years later, i'm still dabbling in it, having played in a number of different games, driven across the province to play in different games, and having run a game for some time. I'm still dabbling, running a game at the Phantasm Convention every year for the past 5....

Pagan - The belief system that my wife holds, or as taken in a more traditional manner, anything that isn't christian. I am nominally pagan, in that i'm not really a person who gets involved in organized religion, and nominally agnostic as i'm not sure there's a higher power.

Scouting - The organization started by Baden-Powell as an method of training young boys into becoming men. I was involved as a youth, as most of my family have been involved in various positions as leaders etc. I got reinvolved in high school as a Rover, which is the program section for youth age 18-26, and as a leader for a number of years. The increasing 'urbanization' of the program, and a number of other changes to the program, lead to my disillusionment with the organization, and i stopped being a leader when i moved to peterborough.

Quiz! [May. 18th, 2009|12:29 am]

Your result for The Social Persona Test (What kind of man/woman are you?)...

Lord of the Misfits (QLAM)

Quirky Liberal Alpha Male

You are similar to The Fratt Boy, in that you often try to take care of peers you percieve as less successful, but with the added benefit that you actually understand those on the fringes. You are a good ally to have, but people might be hurt if they believe your universal good will is a sign of a close friendship. You are nice to everyone, but you know who your true friends are. In terms of dating, you want someone who shares your interests; other than that, anything goes.

You are more QUIRKY than NORMAL.

You are more LIBERAL than TRADITIONAL.

You are more DOMINANT than PASSIVE.

When picking a date, consider: The Rarity (QTAF), The Renaissance Faire Wench (QLAF), The Librarian (QTBF), or The Emo Girl (QLBF)

Sometime later i may actually post commentary, with out a quiz or embedded media.
Thanks to tibialmusician for the link.

An in the vein of CoC.... we played Arkham Horror a few weekend back. defeated Narlyhotep but lost to our second monster. We got into a bad trap where the monster's power was determined by the terror track, and got a situation that increased the terror track if certain results came up on the dice. It was not a good scene.

10 weeks [Feb. 15th, 2009|06:22 pm]
Wow, i go for so long without updating this.
For one i was at 300 posts so it felt wrong to break that number.

So here we are, almost 7 weeks into the new year. Things are good, work's quiet, but starting to get interesting again.

Only real news of note, is that thanks to the evil input of iii_demon, i've succumbed to the steam revolution, and picked up Left4dead for my pc. My steamname is dasbarkman, feel free to add me.

Perhaps i'll add some more stuff here later, or try and update regularly.

Your Spiritual Number is Four

You bring stability and order into people's lives.

You are a devoted friend, and you are able to help other get out of extremely chaotic situations.

Right now, your life is about making difficult choices and complicated decisions.

You find yourself at a crossroads, and you can't stall any longer.

While you may be going through a confusing time, you are confident that you will do the right thing.

You have the courage to do what's best, even when it's hard.

Things long time coming [Nov. 25th, 2008|07:53 pm]

Wow.. it's been a long time since i've posted anything substantive.
September was a blur due to work of start up in the school system. I was covering off on my own normal territory, plus covering the work of another teammate off due to surgery, and helped out at a couple of other schools as well. Things are settling down nicely though, so i've managed to get involved in the program to map the schools for wireless rollouts. This has been keeping me busy which is nice, since this time of year, things really slow down, as all the initial problems are taken care of.

The end of september saw me at Phantasm again this year, running the larp, and enjoying the rest of the weekend as a player. I got to try 2 new games this year - DnD 4E, which i didn't mind, but it's not quite the same game as the previous editions, and will make a good port to computers when they get to that point. I also got to try Arkham Horror, a board game based on the Call of Cthulhu RPG. I really enjoyed it, and even with most of us playing being first time players, we ended up facing Cthulhu, and won before his Tentacled Horror could be unleashed upon the world. The larp was pretty good with some new players coming out, and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. It's shame a couple of the people i had plots set up for decided to flake out, but it happens.

October was pretty quiet from what i remember, or at least nothing really sticks out. Samhain was pretty good, and came the weekend before my birthday, where i got my birthday trifle. mmm trifle. My birthday this year was pretty good, enjoyable dinner with my parents (bbq'd steak, ceaser salad, cake!)I got a new video card from my mom, (GTS 8800), some new Ram (4GB), a hoodie from my mother in law, a gift card for chapters from heather's dad, a cool set of coasters with a shitty NFL team on them (thanks shlemkevich) Some Nuke War cards, and Zombie Fluxx, Monty Python Fluxx, and a copy of Arkham Horror for my very own (thanks acornya, jlindsay).

Other than that, the rest of november has been proceeding apace, working, covering off our union negotiators work while they work on the contract. More to follow in a flocked post.

Now starts the planning for christmas season. 2 full weeks off this year and only a few things to go to. ( we're looking at something like 7 different things to go to this year.)

If you saw me in a police car, what would you think I got arrested for?

Answer me, then if you want, post to your own journal and see how many crimes you get accused of.
